Hing Kee Bak Kut Teh 兴记肉骨茶

What's the first thing that comes to mind as a Malaysian on a cold rainy day, without a doubt would be a hot bowl of soup.  What would fits this category other than a hot pot of Bah Kut Teh, which would warm any souls that consumes it.  So we decided to head over to Kepong and try out try out Hing Kee Bak Kut Teh 兴记肉骨茶.

This soup will definitely, please those who prefer a light version of broth making it easy on the heart, slowly creeping up to your tastebud later realising you couldn't stop yourself from sponging up the whole soup down to the last sip but don't fear as it's certainly refillable. Also if the broth soaks into rice makes it even more addictive as if you're consuming drugs and should be found guilty.

If you're in for a treat, then it's advisable to order the Yau Char Keuy (油条).  How this work would be by dipping those dry crunchy Yau Char Keuy into the soup but just for a moment, making it soak up all the goodness herbs of the Bah Kut Teh soup as well as maintaining its state of crispiness.

Most of the Bah Kut Teh particularly could be modified in terms of meats, if you're not really into consuming internal organs. What we had was Pork Ribs, Intestines and stomach also with a bit of additional cost you could add in some Mushroom which we did and Fu zok (beancurd).

Yau char keuy (油条) and the soup, a big thumb ups.

The rice was served with fried garlic.

Dry bak kut teh, which was only introduced to us humans a few years back. When I first tried this dry bak kut teh, I definitely fell in love with it. As this masterpiece create an explosion of flavours with strong presence of undeniable umami that keeps me craving for it.
